Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In the month of October Ari Lennox dropped her debut EP Pho. This was the moment that she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she launched her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. She continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014 and released her own single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as from Sweat It Out, on July 21 the 21st of July, 2015. The following year, her music circulated all over the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. Her announcement to be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat was a track she recorded with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening act. She also appeared in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas, her labelmates. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. Her second single, Grampa on November 9. Two more singles were released on the 11th of November Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on February 26, 2019 for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured along with Cole as part of The Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. A music video debuted on 20 February 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within the first week, it had over 3,000,000 views. She was the supporting act for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
